Erosion Control Blankets

We carry a complete line of erosion control blankets and installation materials to meet the specific erosion control, sediment control, vegetation establishment, and vegetation reinforcement needs of nearly any application.

Our erosion control blankets are provided in both UV and Biodegradable nettings to meet any of your project specifications. We can provide short, medium and long term solutions to your project specific needs.

SHORT TERM – PHOTODEGRADABLE BLANKETS

Our short term photodegradable erosion control blankets are designed to provide erosion protection and promote vegetation establishment for 45 days up to 12 months, depending on the product. These blankets consist of an evenly distributed layer of 100% agricultural straw, stitched to a single or double netting structure with degradable thread. Short term blankets are designed for moderately sloping areas and low flow channels, where bare ground seeding and loose mulches often fail. After the blankets degrade, soil erosion is controlled by the root, stem and leaf structures of the mature vegetation.

Single Net Straw Blankets

Consist of 100% straw fiber stitched with photodegradable thread to a lightweight, photodegradable polypropylene top net. These blankets are designed for protection on moderate slopes (4:1-3:1) and low flow channels and have longevity of up to 12 months.

Double Net Straw Blankets

Consist of 100% straw fiber stitched with photodegradable thread between lightweight photodegradable polypropylene top and bottom nets. The double net construction provides greater structural integrity than a single net blanket, for use on steeper slopes (3:1-2:1) and moderate flow channels and has longevity of up to 12 months.

LONG TERM – PHOTODEGRADABLE BLANKETS

Our extended term photodegradable erosion control blankets utilize a double netting structure and a long lasting coconut fiber component to provide erosion protection and assist vegetation establishment for up to 24 to 36 months, depending on the product.

These blankets are designed for immediate to long term erosion protection and vegetation establishment on steep slopes, medium to high flow channels, and shorelines. After the blankets degrade, soil erosion is controlled by the mature vegetation’s root, stem and leaf structures.

DOUBLE NET STRAW-COCONUT BLANKET

These blankets are constructed with a layer of 70% straw and 30% coconut fiber stitched with degradable thread between a heavyweight UV stabilized polypropylene top net and a lightweight photodegradable polypropylene bottom net. The addition of coconut fiber and a UV stabilized top net increases the durability, erosion control capabilities, and longevity for use on steeper slopes (2:1-1:1) medium flow channels, and other areas where vegetation will take up to 24 months to grow.

PERMANENT TURF REINFORCEMENT MATS

Permanent Turf Reinforcement Mats (TRMs) combine permanent, three-dimensional matting with fiber matrix material to permanently control erosion and reinforce vegetation.

These mats have been proven more effective than rock riprap and concrete in applications that include severe slopes, high and extreme flow channels, spillways, stream banks, and shorelines.

SC250

SC250 is a TRM that is constructed of a permanent high strength, three dimensional matting structure that incorporates a straw coconut fiber matrix. The straw coconut fiber matrix enhances the permanent matting component’s initial mulching and erosion control performance for up to 24 months.

Designed for slopes of 1:1 or greater, medium to high flow channels and shorelines, SC250 provides extended term pre-vegetated erosion protection and permanent turf reinforcement in a wide range of applications. It is proven in extensive laboratory and field research to increase the shear resistance of vegetation up to 10 lbs/ft2

C350

C350 is composed of a permanent high strength, three dimensional matting structure, incorporated with a 100% coconut fiber matrix that supplements the permanent matting structure’s initial mulching and erosion control capabilities for up to 36 months.

C350 is designed to provide long term, pre-vegetated erosion protection and permanent turf reinforcement in a range of applications that include slopes of 1:1 or greater, high flow channels, and shorelines.

Proven in extensive laboratory and field research, C350’s high strength, 3-D matting structure boosts the shear resistance of vegetation up to an amazing 12 lbs/ft2

P300

P300 Permanent Turf Reinforcement Mat features a 100% UV stabilized, propylene fiber matrix stitched between two UV stabilized nettings, and delivers excellent performance in applications such as severe slopes and roadside ditch protection. P300 has also proven highly effective for permanent turf reinforcement and temporary protection in areas where sparse vegetation is anticipated.

P300 provides vegetated shear stress protection up to 8 pounds per square foot. Because unreinforced vegetation often fails at shear stress levels beyond 2 pounds per square foot, P300 can provide a “green solution” in a variety of difficult applications, including slopes of 1:1 or greater, high flow channels, and shorelines.

P550

P550 is made of a permanent, ultra high strength, three dimensional matting structure incorporated with a permanent 100% polypropylene fiber matrix. P550 is proven to drive the shear resitance of vegetation to over 14 lbs/ft2 – a new maximum for vegetation reinforcement.

SHORE MAX

Shoremax soft revetment scour protection mat is a mat designed for mechanical protection over highly erosive areas. ShoreMax can elevate the shear and velocity protection over what turf reinforcement mats alone can handle. The unique, highly flexible, UV stabilized mat is designed with voids to allow vegetation establishment through the mat, and can offer soft armored solutions in place of hard armor products such as rock riprap and articulated concrete block in turbulent flow and wave attack applications.

ShoreMax comes in 3’ x 5’ panels and weigh only 40 pounds, making installation far quicker and easier that installation of a hard armor system. There is no special or heavy equipment involved and the results have proven extremely effective. For more information and pricing, contact Specialty. We can also provide a cost savings evaluation if you are interested in exploring ShoreMax versus hard armor

PYRAMAT®
